Animal Talks

Meet
at Confederate Hall
Join the SMMA education staff on
Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July at 3pm for a
glimpse into the
world of reptiles and amphibians in Georgia. Live animals include
salamanders, frogs, turtles, and a snake!
Registration not needed. Meet in the Confederate Hall lobby.
All ages are welcome.

Storytime and Amphibian Walk:
Playground & Cherokee Trail Nature Study
2-4pm, Wednesdays in June and July
Meet at Playground
Listen to one chapter
of Thornton Burgess’s
Old Mother West Wind. We
suggest you bring a blanket and your own copy of the book if possible.
Next take a walk to observe amphibians in their habitat. Receive a different
set of amphibian cards each week. Optional: Bring your own exploration
tools – plastic bucket, magnifier, binoculars, and bag for nature
collectable items.
Registration not needed.
A supervising adult must accompany children at all times.
June - August
Over the Summer months, the education department will four Adopt-A-Stream training for
those interested in the health and conservation of their personal or public water ways.

Rock and Mineral Day
12pm -4pm, Labor Day at Confederate Hall
Join SMMA Education staff for a day of Rock and Mineral displays, experiments, crafts, and
quarry tool use. Registration not needed. All ages are welcome.
