Monadnock Madness

Just 30 minutes east of Atlana you can see vernal pools, snorkelwort, and diamorpha at our local
monadnocks. In March, you can experience these unique places first-hand through guided hikes and events at Arabia, Panola, and Stone Mountains. Visit all three parks during the month and you’ll earn a

Bird Walks  - April 18th and May 2nd
8:00 am-10:00 am
Meet at Education Annex. Join Fernbank Science Center Orinthologist Chris Showalter for a casual around Stone Mountain's newest green space. Learn to find and  identify native bird species while gaining insight into the world of Orninthology. Bring binocluars although some will be available. No registration needed. Education Annex entrance is last left before entering into West Gate Park Entrance.


Georgia Reptiles and Amphibians
Fridays in June and July at 3pm at Confederate Hall
Joing SMMA Education staff for an indepth look at some of the reptiles and amphibians of Georgia. Live speciemens during the 1hr presentaiton include salamanders, turtles, frogs, and snakes!

Wildflower Walk - October 17, 2015
10 am – 12 noon
Meet at the Indian Island Parking Lot  Join Larry Winslett, nature photographer and co-author of Wildflowers of Stone Mountain, for a 1 mile walk along King’s Trail then up to the Grist Mill. Get wildflower photography tips. Please register by calling 770.498.5658. Adults and children 15 and older.
