August Free Public Program in Stone Mountain Park with daily or yearly Park entrance fee
Photographing Wildflowers: August 23, 2008 10 am - noon
Join photographer Larry Winslett, author of Wildflowers of Stone Mountain, for a morning of hands on nature photography instruction. Explore many techniques used to capture the beauty of wildflowers digitally or on film.
Meet at the Nature Garden parking lot. Bring a camera.
Larry Winslett is a nature photographer who has chronicled the natural world in many parts of North America, with an emphasis on the Southern Appalachian Mountains. He has specialized in the region's native wildflowers, rivers and streams, and granite outcrops such as Stone, Panola, and Arabia Mountains in Georgia. His photographs have been featured in a variety of publications, such as Sierra, Wilderness, and Wild Mountain Times. He is the author of two books about Stone Mountain. His work can also be seen in four permanent exhibits in the Park. In addition, Confederate Hall Historical and Environmental Education Center showcases much of Larry's photography work at the Park. Currently, his photographs are on display in Memorial Hall to celebrate the Park’s 50th Anniversary.
