  October

Goldenrod and asters brighten up the edges of woods and roadsides during fall!  Yellow Daisies, Blazing Star, Mountain Mint and Dayflower may hold on until early in the month.

Many woodland trees are changing color, hickories and maples are now yellow. Purple beautyberries are common up along the walk-up trail, look for persimmons too. Granite grasshoppers can be found near and at the top of the mountain, they are hard to see at first but seem to be abundant this time of year.
