March                                                                                                                                                              Trout Lilies are in full bloom, hike the Nature Garden trail to see an abundance of them! Sandhill Cranes have been migrating over the mountain and Cedar Waxwings are feasting off the Red Maple blooms. Look for deer and listen for Barred Owls on your early visits to the park!

Later in the month look for Diamorpha, Sandwort, Bluets, Dwarf Dandelions and Wooly Ragwort in the shallow depressions near the bottom of the mountain. At the edges of the park woodlands, look for Yellow Jessamine, early Azaleas, Dogwoods, Redbud, Wild Cherry, and Bloodroot wildflowers. Trout Lilies can still be seen on the forest floor. Reptiles and amphibians are coming out of hibernation so look (and listen!) for them!
