Look for winter wildlife around the park! With most tree leaves on the
ground there is a greater chance of seeing all of our resident
songbirds, flickers and woodpeckers. Deer are consistently seen around
dawn, crossing park roads to explore habitats on the opposite side.
Barred owls are frequently calling to each other around dawn as well.
Enjoy the blue winter skies and clear woodland views! Look for the occasional beech tree still holding its tan leaves. On the forest floor, cranefly orchids - clumps of dark green, bumpy leaves with purple undersides, wintergreen with striped leaves and wild ginger. Mountain Laurel, found along the streams, still has its dark green leaves.
