  August                                                                                                                                                          New blooms and berries!

Some late summer flowers you may see while hiking our wooded trails:  Woodland sunflowers, Cardinal Flower, Foxglove, Butterfly Pea, Mountain Mint.

At the Nature Garden: Mountain Mint, Ironweed, Spiderwort and Joe Pye Weed are blooming.

At the forest edges you'll see Morning Glory.

On the Mountain, the first Yellow Daisies are blooming! Also look for Meadow Beauty, Rock Outcrop Milkwort, Blazing Star and Dayflower.

Summer babies: There are many juvenile Five-lined Skinks (with blue tails!) running around and many little toads too! Granite Grasshoppers are plentiful on the mountain look carefully if you notice anything jump!

Look on and around Stone Mountain for: Beautyberries, Sparkleberries, and ripe Muscadines! Recent wildlife sightings include: a pair of Red-headed Woodpeckers, Screech Owls, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Salamanders, Five-Lined Skinks, Great Blue Herons and many freshwater turtles.
